The plane was being forced out of the sky. Sending us out was their attempt to save us, and it worked. We thought they were dead for a long time. They were kidnapped instead, and my mom eventually was killed, but none of us knew what the... goals were, at the time.
Still sounds like a shite thing to put a child through when it could have been avoided, but you're quick to rationalize or set aside things that happen to you.
Getting us out of the plane was the right thing to do. The alternative would have been worse, but if you want me to stop rationalizing my father coming back and not contacting me because of his guilt, and leaving me to be raised by a lunatic pisses me off?
