Scott doesn't over think that because the other thing is there, waiting, a real question.

He crosses the table and softly
pulls Scott into his arms.

"You’re very strong is all. I got carried away. I’m sorry I hurt you," he mumbles into his neck. It’s nice to have someone close to his height that he can rest his chin on.

"I'm not even entirely sure why it bothered me so much." He wraps his arms around Mid and holds on surprisingly hard, with nothing tentative at all. "But it really got under my skin. I think it's because it started with talking about Jesus. I'm not jealous but... I'm sure not him, either."

"No, you aren't. And I don't want you to be," he says against Scott. "You're the guy I come home to, and sleep by, and love."

"Yeah, I am. And this is probably the healthiest relationship I've ever had. It's got to be one of the healthiest you've had. Does that scare you?"

Because it scares Scott.

"I’ve only had one other, and I fucked it up. I ran. And left him," he admits with regret lodged in his throat.

"No. I mean you've tried. This isn't theoretical. I did not let you run away. I'm not going to start now." After Mid lost it and things got... bad.

"I know, and I'm still confused by your decisions. But happy," he amends at the end with a tight, almost crushing embrace.

"I love you." Midnighter lets out a big breath after those words.
