My dad just disappeared. The person Nate's an alternate version of - my other son - had to be raised in the future because of a virus. And eventually I couldn't stay.

I think there's probably more subtlety than that - even for the knife and it sometimes being what's keeping you from bleeding out - but overall I said I wouldn't judge and I'm glad you did something to make life suck less.
